Million Layers Of Deep – resin on panel

Floating in the water gives a feeling of weightlessness. You can let go of all gravity. Whether you are whole or broken, you will be absorbed in the all-encompassing water.

This work is part of a larger collection of works that are related to the greatness and life force of the ocean.

The theme that connects all these paintings is “Atlas of the Ocean”. The work gives a feeling of freedom and connectedness and seeks a connection with greater power.

The name Atlas refers to Greek mythology where Atlas was given the task of ensuring that the earth (Gaia) and the sky (Uranus) could not reach each other. These works search for the connection again.

Million Layers of Deep is doing great as part of a series of three on the wall, but can also stand on its own. Think of a hall, toilet, a cozy corner or a near a dresser or cupboard.

This work was made on a clay-board panel, then constructed from multiple layers of ink. Then finished with alternating hexagons and a few thick layers of transparent resin/epoxy. The hexagons float in the resin and are constructed in a way that creates a strong 3D effect.

  • Million Layers Of Deep made on a panel of 20 cm x 20 cm. The resin sticks out above it and extends about an inch to the sides, like water that doesn’t adhere to fixed boxes and patterns.

The work has a mounting on the back so that it can be hung directly on the wall.
